“The
children are crying for help, would you answer?”
On
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 the destructor 7.0 magnitude earthquake turned Haiti
and its people into rubbles, and the capital city of Port-au-Prince into
disaster. Consequently, many lives have lost, many life have shattered property
destroyed, and families displaced. How hug is the need? Immense!
Please Help
Rebuild our School in Haiti to Resume literacy class as soon as we can!
The word “Restaveks” is a synonym for
Child Slavery in Haiti. You may
have heard or read about the term “child slavery” But have you met one? Have
you ever talked to one? If you had, how does he or she looks?
Since
I’ve known myself, I’ve never done this—burg for money or for food (I’ve
done that before I knew myself to survive). However, the moment has come to ask
and burg, not for me though, but for three hundred fifteen children in Haiti
that God spared their live through the 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
God spared their lives but this house you see in the picture where they
used to attend classes, has gone. I
want to rebuild it and you and I going to do just that.
You
won’t really know why I’m asking or berg if you wish. You would have to be
in my shoes. This is an excerpt
from my unfinished book titled “ from the time
I’ve known myself.” If you
called what I’m telling you here a “convincing plea,” you’re right! That
is exactly what I’m doing. I really want to convince you to listen with you
heart!

“Haiti's
children are vulnerable to child slavery because access to education is a pipe
dream for most.” I know because I was one just like this boy carrying bucket
of water over his heard.
Many
who have known me know my passion for education. Well, this passion derived from
looking back when at 16 years of age, I couldn’t write or read my name. I was
a subject of laughter form most of teen comrades and their parents whoop them
for playing with me because I was “an outcast child-someone who was
domesticated while my child is in school.” I was a slave child within my
siblings because I “born black in a black family.”
I remember I was a boy just like one of those boys. I don’t even want
to paint my picture here for you. Those of you who’ve known me and know little
bit about me, or those of you because of this letter, have come to know little
more about me, would, would love and respect me more or would you still see the
little slave child in me?
No!
No, I request no sympathy or empathy or a hand on my shoulders. I tell this
little piece about me, first for you to know that my God is an awesome God. He
had plan for me before I was born, second, I want you to help me pass on the
precious gift of education while saving many children from hunger, and third, I
want you to know if I’m able to write this letter is because someone like you
helped learn how to read.
At
the age of 22, God saw fit to bring to the United States on the wings of eagle
(we’ll talk about that later). He
allowed me to have an education, which enable to write you this letter.
When
you bless one person, he or she can turn around and bless one or hundred and you
may never know what you’ve done. This is exactly what happened with me. This
missionary retired man came from France to Haiti to teach me how to read and
write so I can write you this letter now. Guest what, he died never knowing that
through the gift he has given me, more than 780 adults from 20-54 years of age
have learned to read and write through. Isn’t that amazing?
Wait;
let me tell you little more, because I know how to read and write, I was able to
work, earn a living, and opened a school in Haiti where hundreds of children have
learned how to read write. Are you telling me you’re not going to help me
continue this!
We
do have an existing school and you’re welcome to take a trip with to Haiti at
anytime
Our
school in Haiti goes as far as “Certificat”- a term comparable to 8th
grade through a state run standardized test. Since 2002, over 1900 children have
gone through our school with an 8th grade education. We currently
serving 315 children from 3-17 years old, and we simply cannot take anymore.
Many of them have learned how to run a little business (buying and selling stuff
and some more fortunate have gone to trade school). Our classrooms are
overcrowded with two classes per teachers. Haven’t you seen the reason to help
thus far?
This
photo below shows a teacher, a classroom with writing board, and our best
classroom benches. I know for you it is unconceivable for a child to sit on
these benches for hours but for them we can’t even afford to many of them.
Some sit on rocks or concrete blocks, or on the floor. Could you believe this
picture below (1 big and 1 small) is their bathroom for 315 children?

Would
you believe if I tell you this picture below is the bathroom (1 big and 1
small) for 315 children? Is always a long line and if you would like help add
couple more, it would be a blessing
I am praying that one of the good things that will come out of this crisis,
would be a better school for the children. We’re preparing to rebuild the
school and resume class in due time in Haiti and I want you who are reading this
web page to be a part of it.
We don’t have the photo for the crumble school as of yet but
we will and I am planning a trip to Haiti, you’re welcome to go with me
anytime. Our phone number is 407-295-4869.
I would rather you be a part of this rebuilding!
